Table Talk: 5 ways to #DoBeautifulThings

How to Celebrate Keep America Beautiful Month

We’re halfway through April, which means that we still have enough time to celebrate KEEP AMERICA BEAUTIFUL® MONTH! I like do-able challenges and this one is easy and also helps improve your community. Here are 5 ways to #DoBeautifulThings and make an impact in your neighborhood, socially distanced or virtually for the remainder of this month. This is a 10-Day Challenge.

  1. Recycling regulations may have shifted in some communities due to guidelines from the CDC and the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic but NYC’s curbside recycling program is still in effect. Thank a sanitation worker, and check recycling rules.

  2. Place used gloves, wipes, and masks in the trash after use. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is increasingly becoming a litter problem posing a threat to the environment as litter and to those who pick them up. These items should be properly disposed of and not on the ground.

  3. Take your exploration of the great outdoors to the next level — out in the wild or from the comfort of your own home. Click to learn how you can visit national parks, virtually.

  4. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to follow the conversation and receive updates.

  5. Take steps to reduce, reuse, and recycle during spring cleaning! You might be surprised to find that many of the items you could have sworn were destined for the garbage or giveaway tables can actually enjoy a useful second life.
